Horizontal drilling in the shale plays of the Appalachian Basin has increased the importance of accurate depth migration of seismic data. With stratigraphic target zones often tens of feet thick, the ability to accurately anticipate structure prior to drilling is desired. This open discussion forum will explore different approaches operators have used to provide accurate velocity models to overcome issues specific to Appalachian Basin geology.
